Obi-Kimono cushion : Mandarin duck with beige piping

This cushion was made by an up-cycled Obi with a phoenix and lotus flower motif.

The phoenix is a legendary bird in Chinese mythology: it is the leader of 36 species of winged animals and is said to appear only in a peaceful world governed by the person endowed with divine virtues. This Obi is entirely gilded and embroidered with lotus flowers, the very paradise represented by Buddhism.
