Sari, the Founder
MAISON MIYABI
MAISON MIYABI embodies the marriage of French know-how and Japanese elegance. Miyabi (雅) means absolute elegance in Japanese.
Sari, the founder, is originally from Tokyo and a Parisian at heart. She has lived in Paris since 2008. She has always been fascinated by beauty. Decorating her home in a refined and unique way is not only her pleasure, but also the source of energy that allows her to move forward.
She holds an MBA at ESSEC Business School in France and has experience in two major luxury houses in Tokyo and Paris, where she learned the essence of craftsmanship, production and marketing. She also had a career in BtoB sales with an American company.
She led a exciting daily life, but the pandemic led her to reconsider her own life, that of her family and her passion.
What she had wanted to embody for a long time was to create an entirely new brand that combines the Japanese spirit with French aesthetics and know-how.

Research into traditional Japanese crafts
Since leaving Japan, she has rediscovered the beauty of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, particularly in the making of the Kimono, the Obi and Washi, traditional Japanese paper.
Following her research, she was saddened to learn of the decline of Japan's traditional industries. The production of kimonos is in fact declining year on year (in 1985, over 3 million pieces were produced, but in 2020, the figure was around 150,000). The number of artisans who make kimonos has also decreased (there were around 160,000 in 1975, but today the figure has been reduced to a few thousand). Moreover, the artisans are getting older and there is a lack of new blood.
In addition, in recent years, kimonos have been worn on special occasions and many of them are neglected after being worn only once, which can be a problem in terms of environmental impact.

The reason to launch MAISON MIYABI
Products made from Japanese kimono and obi already exist, but the reality is that they are often not made in Japan, are not made of silk or do not have patterns or specifications that suit Western tastes.
“At MAISON MIYABI, I buy kimonos and Obis in Japan myself, and I design the concept, then have them made in a Parisian workshop. Our products are designed to be used on their own, but also to be integrated into your current interior. I believe that adding Japanese touches to your Western interior will make it more original and lively. That's why I chose “Meet Japan, Feel France” as the slogan for my brand.
I want MAISON MIYABI to color everyone's life Japanese-style with a French touch.”
Let's "Meet Japan, Feel France" with us!

Our name
"MAISON" means a place to live in French. “雅 MIYABI” is a Japanese word that means understanding taste, being bold and being graceful in movements. This word represents absolute elegance.

Our logo
This logo is the pattern of a seal used in place of a signature in Japan, associated with the kanji “Miyabi (雅)”.
Gold is considered a noble and auspicious color in Japan. A red dot is the Japanese flag, which symbolizes Japan. The M of MAISON MIYABI is located in the lower left corner, expressing the characteristics of the brand (fusion of Japan and France, East and West) by combining the alphabets used in Western countries with kanji Japanese.
