Washi paper is a traditional paper made by hand in Japan. This tissue box is handmade by Japanese craftsmanship from Washi paper Yuzen from Kyoto.

What is Yuzen Washi?

As typified by the Yuzen dyeing of kimonos, Yuzen Washi is a type of Japanese paper from Kyoto that has been gorgeously dyed with traditional Japanese patterns using colorful schemes. Each sheet of Yuzen Washi is carefully dyed by the hands of Kyoto craftsmen, and is of great value. The most representative examples are those that use curved lines to create picturesque patterns of landscapes, plants, flowers, birds, and vessels, and are characterized by a variety of colors, yet with a precise and elegant color scheme.

Where is Kyoto?
