This pouch was made from an obi made entirely of silk with a Momiji (Japanese maple) pattern. Use it as a cosmetic pouch or evening bag, to better organize your bag, or to add a little pizzazz to your interior... Take this pouch with you as your little companion!
History of motif:
The beauty of the Japanese maple was described in the Man'yōshū (the oldest surviving collection of Japanese poetry, compiled in the second half of the 8th century) and The Tale of Genji. (A work considered to be a major work of 11th-century Japanese literature) During the Muromachi period (1336-1573), the aristocracy actively went on “maple hunting” to admire the maple trees in distant fields and mountains.
The chrysanthemum is a symbol of longevity and dignity (the imperial crest is also a chrysanthemum).

The inner fabric has also been generously made from fabric that was used as the lining of an obi.
