The Mandarin duck has been the subject of paintings and poems because of its beautiful appearance and feathers, and because the male and female are always together. It is used for kimonos and obis during ceremonies and formal occasions, and because of its beautiful and auspicious designs, it is often seen on kimono wedding costumes.
