This pouch was made from an obi made entirely of silk with the Akatsuki (Dawn) pattern. Use it as a cosmetic pouch or evening bag, to better organize your bag or to add a little pizzazz to your interior... Take this pouch with you as your little companion!

The story behind the pattern: This pattern is inspired by Japanese mythology “The Land Where the Sun Rises: A Beautiful Story About the Origins of Japan”

Long ago, when the sky and earth were still in chaos, there lived a radiant sun goddess named Amaterasu Omikami. Her brilliant light nourished the world, made plants grow, and guided all living things.

One day, Amaterasu commanded her divine descendant to rule over the rich land of Ashihara-no-Nakatsukuni, the world between heaven and earth. Obeying her will, her grandson Ninigi-no-Mikoto descended from heaven. This sacred event is known as Tenson Kōrin, the descent of the heavenly grandson.

The land where he descended was in the east, where the sun rises first. It was a beautiful and promising land, blessed by the light of his divine ancestor. Thus, the country was called “the land where the sun rises.”

This land is called Japan, or Nippon, a nation born under the sun, which always walks in its light.

The sun represents Japan, and this belt was as beautiful as the light of the sun. That is why I named it Akatsuki, “Dawn.”
