The story behind the piece:
Kyōsensu (Kyoto fans) is the name given to fans made mainly in Kyoto. It is said that the production process involves up to 87 separate steps, with many different artisans, each responsible for a different part of the process.
These are handmade by Onishi Tsune Shoten, established in 1913 in Kyoto.
This fan boldly depicts “The Great Wave off Kanagawa,” one of Katsushika Hokusai's 36 Views of Mount Fuji.
During its manufacture, incense is burned, and observing it is accompanied by a subtle and pleasant fragrance.
This fan will offer you a moment of peace anytime.
