Our Obi-Kimono cushions are not mere decorative objects, but true works of art. Each cushion is handmade in our Parisian workshop, where we carefully select and cut patterns from authentic Japanese obi belts, which can measure up to 4 meters in length.
MAISON MIYABI reinterprets these traditional Japanese works of art so that they blend perfectly with Western interiors.
History of the pattern:
The Obi comes from Japan and this cushion is handcrafted in Paris. Chrysanthemums have various meanings, such as "noble", "prolonged life and longevity", "ward off evil spirits" and "stability of mind and body". They are also displayed at different times of the year, such as New Year's Day, Boys' Festival, and Shichi-Go-San Festival. The family crest of the Japanese imperial family is also a chrysanthemum, and it is also the flower that appears on Japanese passports. The peony is “the King of hundred Flowers” for the Japanese. Previously, only high-ranking people could wear the kimono with this symbol.
