Dear all,
In France, the school year is punctuated by two weeks of vacation every three months, a fact that surprises my Japanese friends! Among these breaks, the Easter vacation in April is by far my favorite.
After a long European winter, where the days are short, the arrival of spring is eagerly awaited, much more so than in Japan. Choosing our destination for the April vacation is always an exciting time.
This year, we chose the island of Oléron, located off the Atlantic coast. I am particularly fond of this region and we regularly visit the Île de Ré and Arcachon. However, despite its proximity to the Ré island, this was our first visit to the Oléron island. I was immediately charmed by its wild side and the richness of its nature. It was truly enchanting! When I stay in a coastal town, I always look forward to enjoying fresh seafood. The squid, in particular, was incredibly tender and literally melted in the mouth. Simply grilled and drizzled with lemon juice, it was absolutely divine. When I travel, I never fail to stroll around the market to buy fresh produce and chat with the producers, hoping to discover their best recipes.
Once again, this trip was a success: delicious food, enriching encounters with locals, and exploring the island by bike. It was just what I needed to recharge my batteries!
Our next vacation will be in the summer. Right now, I suppose everybody is very busy, both professionally and personally before the long vacation. So take care of yourselves.
Thanks,
Sari
