Photo en Octobre : Kochia rouge vif avec le Mont Fuji

Photo in October: Bright red kochia with Mount Fuji

Hi there,

The mornings are particularly cold at the moment, and I am eagerly awaiting the building's central heating to be turned on. At this time of year, people tend to get sick, but I hope you are doing well.
This month, I have selected a photo of kochias with Mount Fuji, which are in full bloom at this time of year.

Located on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi in Kawaguchiko City, Yamanashi Prefecture, Oishi Park offers an incredible view of bright red kochias with Mount Fuji in the background every year from mid-October to the end of October. Kochia is an annual plant of the amaranth family, called “Hōkigi (= broom plant)” in Japanese. As its name suggests, its stems were traditionally dried to make brooms.
Bright green during summer, they gradually take on reddish hues in the fall, offering walkers a spectacular display of autumn colors.

At Oishi Park, around 100,000 kochia plants are planted every summer.
Starting out as small green plants, they grow as autumn approaches and turn a bright red color from mid-October to late October. The best time to admire the autumn colors of the kochias at Oishi Park is generally between mid-October and late October.

What fascinates me about Mount Fuji is not only that it is the source of the Japanese soul, but also that it changes beautifully with the seasons.

Please take care and see you soon,
Sari
