The Elegance of a Kimono Silk Pillow
Tales of Castle — The Story Behind the Motif
The Spirit of the Motif: A Journey into the Heart of the Fortified City
Inspired by Edo period scenes, this motif is woven in gold jacquard and silk. It captures the energy of a Japanese castle town (Jōkamachi).
The design features a town structured around its fortress and bordered by majestic moats.
At the center rises a grand wooden bridge. This is a timeless symbol of passage and protection.
Traditional architecture and tiled roofs stand like a rampart. They shelter lords, artisans, and merchants in celebratory attire.
In Japanese tradition, a lively fortified city is a cherished omen. It represents prosperity, peace, and lasting harmony.
A Bridge Between Two Worlds
This cushion embodies a true cultural synthesis:
- The Bridge and the Water: Moat waters bring prosperity. The arched bridge links East and West. It connects the noble heritage of a vintage Japanese Obi with the refined aesthetic of a modern home.
- Textile Heritage: Woven in gold, crimson, turquoise, and ochre silk. This fabric reimagines the fortress. It offers a poetic and comforting sanctuary for your living space.
Passementerie Variations
This exceptional cushion is available with two fringe finishes to accentuate the fabric:
- Golden Ochre: Illuminates the gold weaving for a warm, luminous touch.
- Terracotta: Echoes traditional tiled roofs and enhances the motif's depth.
(Each piece is handcrafted from vintage silk. Slight pattern variations make your cushion truly one of a kind.)
Care & Preservation
Vintage silk requires thoughtful care to keep its vibrant colors. We recommend professional dry cleaning only.
This maintains the rich texture, structural integrity, and brilliant luster over time.
