Our Obi-Kimono cushions are not mere decorative objects, but true works of art. Each cushion is handmade in our Parisian workshop, where we carefully select and cut patterns from authentic Japanese obi belts, which can measure up to 4 meters in length.
MAISON MIYABI reinterprets these traditional Japanese works of art so that they blend perfectly with Western interiors.
The Obi comes from Nishijin, Kyoto in Japan and this cushion is handcrafted in Paris.
History of the pattern:
The mandarin duck has been the subject of paintings and poems because of its beautiful appearance and feathers, and because the male and female are always together. It is used for kimono and obi during ceremonies and formal occasions , and because of its beautiful and auspicious designs, it is often seen on kimono wedding suits.
