Our Obi-Kimono cushions are not mere decorative objects, but true works of art.
Each cushion is handmade in our Parisian workshop, where we carefully select and cut patterns from authentic Japanese obi belts, which can measure up to 4 meters in length.
MAISON MIYABI reinterprets these traditional Japanese works of art so that they blend perfectly with Western interiors.
History of the pattern:
The name “Kara” comes from the weaving technique “Kara-ori.” Kara-ori is a very high-quality fabric, usually woven from twill fabric onto which gold, silver, and brightly colored threads are woven using a technique called “Uki-ori,” which involves weaving floral or decorative patterns like embroidery. It is used for costumes in Noh, a form of traditional Japanese theater with a history of over 600 years.
