Hi there,
November has arrived in the blink of an eye, and the days are rapidly getting shorter. In Japan, the expression “tsurube otoshi” perfectly describes this feeling of days getting shorter in autumn. “Tsurube” is a well bucket that falls quickly, a poetic image to evoke the autumn twilight.
As the cold sets in Japan, the autumn colors create a fantastic spectacle with their shades of red, the green of the evergreen trees, and the yellow leaves. I regret not having had the opportunity to visit Kyoto during this season since my arrival in Paris, as it is a magnificent time of year. Among the most famous sites for admiring these colors are Kyoto (especially Arashiyama), Nikko, and Hokkaido. In Kyoto, the best time to visit is from mid-November to early December.
This time, we have chosen to introduce Arashiyama Yusai-tei. This is the dyeing art gallery of the dyer Okuda Yusai, a charming building dating back about 150 years. Formerly a restaurant and inn called “Chidori,” this place also inspired the great writer Yasunari Kawabata, who wrote “The Sound of the Mountains” here. From the rooms overlooking the river, you can admire the nature of Arashiyama throughout the seasons, and the symmetrical landscape reflected on the tables and the surface of the water is exceptionally beautiful.
Do you like fall? If you have any recommendations for places to admire the fall foliage, please let me know in the comments!
Finally, I have some good news. This month, we are organizing a pop-up at NO MAD in the Marais (21, rue de Turenne 75004 Paris). I will also be present at the boutique according to the schedule below (changes and updates will also be announced on our Instagram account @maisonmiyabi_paris):

Tuesday, November 25, and

I wish you a wonderful fall and hope to see you soon,
Sari, founder of MAISON MIYABI
