At MAISON MIYABI, we reimagine traditional Japanese masterpieces to blend seamlessly with sophisticated Western interiors.
The Story Behind the Motif: The Dawn of the Rising Sun This cushion features an upcycled silk Obi showcasing the Akatsuki (Dawn) motif. This fabric evokes the sacred origins of Japan: the sun goddess Amaterasu Omikami sending her grandson to rule over the earth. His descent toward the East, where the sun first appears, defined Japan as the "Land of the Rising Sun." This nation, born under the divine light of the sun, is embodied in the breathtaking brilliance of this fabric, which inspired the name Akatsuki.
