At MAISON MIYABI, we reimagine traditional Japanese masterpieces to blend seamlessly with sophisticated Western interiors. Our cushions are far more than decorative objects; they are authentic works of art, handcrafted in our Parisian atelier.
The Story Behind the Motif: The Art of Noh Theater This cushion showcases the exquisite Kara-ori weaving technique, a pinnacle of Japanese textile art. Traditionally used for the costumes of Noh theater — a dramatic form with over 600 years of history — Kara-ori features intricate patterns woven with gold, silver, and vibrant silk threads. Utilizing the Uki-ori method, the floral motifs appear as if they are floating, creating a three-dimensional effect reminiscent of fine embroidery.
This piece brings the theatrical majesty and historical depth of Kyoto's master weavers into your home.
