Collection: Obi-Kimono Cushion
The Art of the Obi: Where Japanese Tradition Meets Parisian Spirit
A Precious Heritage Deeply rooted in Japanese history since the Heian period (794–1185), the Kimono and the Obi (silk sash) are masterpieces of ancestral craftsmanship, often passed down as treasured heirlooms from generation to generation.
A Luxurious Second Life Our cushions are not merely accessories; they are exceptional statement pieces. Each creation is handcrafted in our Parisian atelier using authentic Nishijin silk Obi from Kyoto. We carefully select the most refined patterns to transform these collector's items into contemporary objects of décor.
The Art of Precision A traditional Obi sash measures up to 4 meters in length, yet only about 60% of its surface is adorned with these intricate woven patterns—designed to be lightweight and comfortable for the wearer. From this limited canvas, we can create a maximum of only five cushions.
Each piece is a deliberate work of art: we meticulously hand-select and cut the fabric where the motif appears most exquisite, ensuring that no two cushions are ever the same. You do not just have a textile; you own the most beautiful fragment of a silk story.
Unique Elegance At MAISON MIYABI, we blend the nobility of Japanese heritage with Western aesthetics to bring a touch of absolute originality to your interior.
